We stayed in Gurnee and drove into the train station to take it into the city on Saturday. We had a bit of trouble trying to figure things out! The first train station we went to was closest to our hotel, but when we got there, a train had just left and the next wasn't expected for 2 hours. We hopped back in the car and drove to the next station a good 40 min drive and we must have gone to the wrong place because the parking lot was empty and the building was locked up tight with no signs or anything. So on we went to the next. After trying to figure out how to buy tickets and what the best deal would be a guy helped us out and told us we should go buy some day passes that were good for unlimited bus and train rides. The only thing was that we had to walk a few blocks to the grocery store to get them. But for $5.75 they were worth the extra walk. Anyways, we finally got into the city and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon! We said if we do something like this again we will have to do a bit of research and figure things out ahead of time!

The weather was pretty perfect for walking around. It was right about 60 so not too hot or cold. Actually got a bit chilly at times if we were in the shade.
These guys had a hard time hauling us uphill on their bikes! We payed enough to go only 2 blocks though, they wanted $15 a piece!
The bridge along the 'Magnificent Mile'. Awesome view!
An accordion 'bendy' bus! It was interesting trying to figure everything out. We jumped on a some wrong buses and ended up having to walk a bit extra a few times.
View from the Sears (Willis) Tower...pictures don't do justice! We were about 1,450feet or 110(?) stories high. AH! I would love to see it sometime in the daytime but at night with all the city lights on, it was absolutely gorgeous!
So scary! You can step out in glass boxes and look below...I had butterflies in my stomach the entire time. It seemed like you might fall right through at any minute!
We did a little bit of shopping on Sunday before everyone headed back home. Such a fun (quick!) weekend, the only thing was that it was hard to relax at all when there was a big city to see! Maybe next time we will have to stay somewhere where we can just take it easy and visit!
